Synopsis:

Review:

This movie is funny and scary at the same time. Definitely a must watch, you can even learn the 10 ways to see spirits! Only the end is a bit stupid but well it doesn't matter because the rest of the movie is 5 stars.

The ten methods for viewing the dead as described in The Ten Encounters are as follows:

1. A corneal transplant from a donor who is psychic (as seen in The Eye)
2. Attempting to commit suicide while pregnant (as seen in The Eye 2).
3. Playing the Spirit Glass game (similar to Western Ouija boards).
4. Tapping chopsticks on an empty bowl with enough food for three at an intersection to attract hungry spirits.
5. Playing hide and seek at midnight while holding a black cat.
6. Rubbing the dirt from a grave around your eyes.
7. Opening an umbrella while indoors.

Synopsis:

Joey recovers from an overdose of sleeping pills after having her stomach pumped. It was a close call; she had visions of dead people accompanying her during her darkest minutes. But just when she looks forward to a brand new life, she discovers that she is pregnant. Being tortured by the thought of an abortion, Joey finds herself becoming delusional and emotionally unstable.

She is frequently threatened by the sudden presence of strangers, and also feels stalked by a mysterious woman. The stalker actually confronts her on one occasion; making eye contact with her on a train platform, then, throwing herself at a running train! Joey breaks down at the sight of the suicide, only to discover later that "nobody" is found on the track.

Typical Pang Brothers fare: inventive camerawork, thoughtful sound design, well constructed scenes, a few jolts, and a story line that mixes fantasy, flashbacks, hallucinations, and dreams. There is no reason for this film to be called EYE 2 except for capitalizing on the success of the original. Shu Qi nails her part. She is beautiful and convincing with 20/20 vision but she is messing around with a married guy causing his wife to commit suicide (she doesn't die right), comb her hair over her face like a good asian horror girl should so she can effectively haunt the nasty mistress who is pregnant with the cheating husband's child. Good stuff.
